The Beagle Pup G-AWEC was later changed to the Hong Kong registration VR-HGT and was flying by the Chin Brothers and their friends in Hong Kong since its epic arrival in 1972. Then the Chin Brothers was going overseas one by one.  At the time Francis Chin, who was also going overseas,  was the Commanding Officer of the Hong Kong Air Cadet Corps (HKACC). Francis was of the opinion that the Beagle Pup could be very useful if it was donated to the Air Cadets or the Air Scouts for flying training.  The Beagle Pup is economical to run and it was kept in excellent top conditions by the Chin Brothers. With all the volunteer expertise of the air cadets and its officers,  the Beagle Pup is the ideal training aircraft for the air cadets.

However, things never work out the way it should be The Beagle Pup was finally donated by the Chin Brothers to the Hong Kong Aviation Club in 1983. It was later used for watch advertisement and painted in a ugly yellow colour with red flame pattern bearing the watch's name.  It  was being used for displays from time to time.

Recently  the original vision of Francis Chin in 1983 was materialised as The Hong Kong Air Cadet Corps was allowed to use the Beagle Pup G-AWEC as a teaching aid for aviation education training of its cadets.  Unfortunately it was only 20 years later. The Beagle Pup was not in good shape and  its radio, antenna, carburettor the  oil cooler of  its Rolls Royce engine were missing.  Then Group Captain Leonard Leung, the Commanding Officer of the HKACC, whom Francis always praised as the "White Knight" of the Air Cadets, decided to commission a project to rebuilt the Beagle Pup. With the help of Mr. Alex Yan and Mr. Hogan Loh, the President and Vice-President of the H.K. Aviation Club respectively, the Hong Kong Aviation Club provided venue and facilities while three volunteer air cadet engineers  and a retired engineer laboured during their spare time and weekends to strip down the whole aeroplane, treat the corrosions, repair the engine, and .to repaint it back to its original guardsman-red-and-white glory of the G-AWEC paint scheme.

Recently Francis Chin returned to Hong Kong and  had an  emotional reunion with the refurbishing Beagle Pup whom he had flown in and out of death during the epic England to Hong Kong flight in 1971. Francis is very grateful for the musketeer engineers who are giving a new life for the Pup. The engineers are very happy too as they  can get first hand information from Francis regarding details such as original paint scheme,  paint code, original registration marks, source of spare parts etc. The "musketeer" engineers are Mr. Donny Chan, Mr. Dandy Wong, Mr. Michael Wong and Mr. Chow Kim Fung. Shall keep you posted on the progress of the refurbishment of the Beagle Pup.
